About Lepidium nanum S.Watson
Lepidium nanum, commonly called dwarf pepperweed, is a plant species native to the US states of Nevada and Utah. It has been recorded from four Nevada counties: Nye, Elko, White Pine, and Eureka, and only one Utah county: Tooele County. It grows in open, sunlit desert locations, most often in soils composed of gypsum, limestone, quartzite, or chalk. Lepidium nanum is a perennial herb with a woody caudex, and it forms low mound-shaped mats across the ground surface. Its basal leaves are obovate in shape, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) long. No leaves grow on the above-ground stems of this species. Its flowers range in color from yellow to creamy white, and are arranged in racemes that hold up to 7 flowers each. Its fruits are egg-shaped, and typically have small wings at their tips.
