Lentinula novae-zelandiae (G.Stev.) Pegler, commonly called New Zealand shiitake, is an edible saprobic fungus species that is endemic to New Zealand. Phylogenetic research indicates that this species forms a monophyletic clade of Laurasian origins. This species can be cultivated, and cultures and grow kits for it are available commercially within New Zealand.
