About Lemna trisulca L.
Lemna trisulca L. has fronds that typically grow submerged. The fronds are oblong-lanceolate in shape, reaching up to 14 mm in length. One end of each frond is blunt, while the other end tapers into a tail-like stalk. Flowering fronds are smaller than vegetative fronds, and they curl upward from underwater to the water surface to display their flowers. To a casual observer, these flowering fronds may resemble reddened duckweeds that match the form of Lemna minor with white flower spots, with distinctly greener Lemna trisulca visible directly underneath. An illustration photograph of this species' flowers is available. This species is widely distributed across cool-temperate regions. Its distribution includes Great Britain and Ireland, Asia (Bangladesh, Northern, Western, and Southern China (specifically Yunnan), Taiwan, Eastern and Northern India, Sumatra and New Guinea in Indonesia, Brunei, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Pakistan, the Philippines), Europe, Oceania, North America, and South America.
