About Lebia cyanocephala (Linnaeus, 1758)

Adult Lebia cyanocephala beetles reach a length of 7.5 millimetres, or 0.30 inches. This species can be identified by its metallic blue head and elytra, along with an orange pronotum. Lebia cyanocephala is widespread across Europe, though it is considered a rare species there. The northern boundary of its distribution runs through southern England, southern Norway, southern Sweden, and southern Finland. Its southern range limit extends through western North Africa, and reaches as far east as Israel in Asia Minor. Among Mediterranean islands, this beetle has only been recorded from Sicily and Cyprus. This species occurs throughout the Palearctic region, extending east all the way to Siberia and northern China.
