About Laurobasidium lauri (Geyl.) Jülich
Laurobasidium is a genus of fungi that belongs to the Exobasidiaceae family. The genus currently contains two recognized species. The first is Laurobasidium lauri, which was described by W. Jülich in 1982 and is found in Europe. The second is L. hachijoense, which was described in 1985 and found on Hachijō-jima, Japan. Laurobasidium lauri only grows on plants of the laurel genus Laurus: it occurs on Laurus novocanariensis in Madeira and the Canary Islands, and on Laurus nobilis in the western Iberian Peninsula. L. hachijoense only grows on Cinnamomum japonicum, the Japanese cinnamon.
