About Lathyrus vestitus Nutt.

Lathyrus vestitus, commonly called Pacific pea, is a species of wild pea. It is native to western North America, and is mostly found in the forests, woodlands, and chaparral of California. The ranges of some of its subspecies extend into Oregon and Baja California. It is a perennial pea vine, and its appearance varies between different subspecies. Its leaves are composed of multiple leaflets of varying shapes, which grow up to 4 or 5 centimeters long. Leaves usually have coiling tendrils, and their stipules can be either large or small. Its inflorescence is a showy arrangement holding up to 15 pea flowers, which are sometimes densely packed. The flowers are usually some shade of bright violet, light to medium purple, or white.
