About Lasiopetalum discolor Hook.

Lasiopetalum discolor Hook. is a spreading shrub that typically reaches a height of 0.2 to 1 metre (7.9 inches to 3 feet 3.4 inches). Its stems are covered in star-shaped hairs. The leaves are broadly oblong to egg-shaped, measuring 20โ€“80 mm (0.79โ€“3.15 in) long and 15โ€“50 mm (0.59โ€“1.97 in) wide. They are leathery, with star-shaped hairs covering their lower surface. Flowers are up to 10 mm (0.39 in) in diameter, arranged in pendulous heads of ten or more. Each flower is either sessile or borne on a pedicel up to 1 mm (0.039 in) long. Three linear bracteoles grow at the base of the sepals; the sepals themselves are 5โ€“7 mm (0.20โ€“0.28 in) long, pink or white, and densely hairy on the back. The petals are reddish-brown, 1.0โ€“1.5 mm (0.039โ€“0.059 in) long, and the flower has five stamens. Flowering takes place from June to December, and the mature fruit is 3โ€“4 mm (0.12โ€“0.16 in) in diameter. This species grows in sandy soil on coastal dunes and limestone. Its distribution spans the south coast of Western Australia and South Australia, Bass Strait islands, and the north-west coast of Tasmania.
