Larrea nitida Cav. is a flowering plant species that belongs to the Zygophyllaceae family. It is native to North and Central Chile, as well as Argentina. Within its native range, this species has a wide distribution that extends between Salta and Chubut, and it grows at altitudes ranging from 1500 to 3000 metres. It has been used in traditional medicine for multiple purposes: as an anti-inflammatory, a wound disinfectant, an antibacterial agent, and an antifungal agent.
