About Larinus pollinis (Laicharting & J.N.E.von, 1781)
Larinus pollinis (Laicharting & J.N.E.von, 1781) is a species of weevil. Adults of this species reach an approximate body length of 10 millimeters (0.39 inches). They have an ovate, black, sub-opaque body covered in many patches of gray setae. These setae can appear yellowish due to a yellowish secretion and adhering pollen. The species' rostrum is shorter than its thorax, and only has a single carina at its base. Mature pupae of Larinus pollinis have more than 40 setae on their pronotum. This species is present in most of Europe, including Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland and Ukraine. It is also found in the East Palearctic realm, North Africa, the Oriental realm, and the Near East. These weevils live in grassland habitats.
