About Largus californicus (Van Duzee, 1923)

Largus californicus, commonly called the California bordered plant bug, is a species of bordered plant bug belonging to the family Largidae. This species is distributed across western North America and parts of Central America. Adult California bordered plant bugs reach approximately 2.5 centimeters (0.98 inches) in length. Adults have a black exoskeleton, with orange edges along the thorax and abdomen. Nymphs start with a metallic blue coloration, and later develop a red spot at the base of the abdomen. In terms of appearance, Largus californicus cannot be distinguished from the closely related species Largus cinctus.
