Lapposyrphus lapponicus (Zetterstedt, 1838) is a common species of syrphid fly observed throughout the Northern Hemisphere. It has two common regional names: the common loopwing aphideater in North America, and the Lapland syrphid fly in Europe. Adult individuals of this species are commonly found on flowers, where they obtain energy-giving nectar and protein-rich pollen. The larvae of Lapposyrphus lapponicus feed on aphids.
