About Laportea canadensis (L.) Wedd.
Laportea canadensis (L.) Wedd. grows from tuberous roots, reaching a height of 30 to 150 centimeters. It can be rhizomatous, growing into small clumps. Both its foliage and stems have stinging and non-stinging hairs. It produces whitish green flowers from spring through early fall. Unlike the common nettle, its close relative, Laportea canadensis has alternate leaves. Most of its foliage grows noticeably high on the stem.
