About Laphamia lindheimeri A.Gray
Laphamia lindheimeri, commonly known as Lindheimer's rock daisy, is a flowering plant species belonging to the aster family, Asteraceae. This species is native to the United States, and it is endemic exclusively to the Edwards Plateau region of Texas. Its natural habitat consists of crevices in Cretaceous-age limestone rock, where it often grows near streams or springs. Laphamia lindheimeri is a perennial subshrub. It produces yellow inflorescences that contain both ray and disk flowers, and blooms from spring through fall. Two varieties of Laphamia lindheimeri are currently accepted. These are Laphamia lindheimeri var. halimifolia (A.Gray) Lichter-Marck, with synonyms Laphamia halimifolia A.Gray, Perityle halimifolia (A.Gray) Shinners, and Perityle lindheimeri var. halimifolia (A.Gray) A.M.Powell, and Laphamia lindheimeri var. lindheimeri, with synonyms Laphamia rotundata Rydb. and Perityle rotundata (Rydb.) Shinners.
