About Lapeirousia anceps (L.f.) Ker Gawl.
Lapeirousia anceps (L.f.) Ker Gawl. grows to between 100 and 300 millimeters in length. Its flowers range in color from white to light pink, with red markings on the lower tepals, and bloom in the spring. It produces 5 to 7 ribbed lower leaves that are usually longer and wider than its upper leaves; the upper leaves are crowded near the base of the plant. Lapeirousia anceps ranges from southern Namaqualand to Mossel Bay. It grows best in low-rain, nutrient-poor biomes, and is most commonly found in the wild during October and November. The long-proboscid fly Moegistorhynchus longirostris acts as a pollinator for this plant, using its long proboscis to access nectar from the flowers.
