Lampsilis higginsii (I. Lea, 1857) is a bivalve mollusc that belongs to the Unionidae family, commonly known as river mussels. This species has an oval shape and a thick, heavy shell that ranges in color from yellowish to brown, and sometimes features greenish rays. It can grow up to 10.2 centimeters, or between 4 and 5 inches, in length. The nacre of Lampsilis higginsii is white, sometimes with a pink tinge, and is partially iridescent.
