About Lagophylla ramosissima Nutt.

Lagophylla ramosissima is a species of flowering plant in the Asteraceae family. Its common names are branched hareleaf and branched lagophylla. It is native to the western United States and grows in many habitat types, particularly dry areas. This plant is an annual herb that produces spindly, erect stems that vary in height. Lower leaves on the plant can grow up to 12 centimeters long and drop off early in the growing season. Upper leaves are smaller, with woolly, glandular surfaces. The inflorescence bears a sparse arrangement of flower heads, which open in the evening and close early in the morning. Each small flower head holds five short light yellow ray florets with lobed tips, and six yellow disc florets. The fruit is an achene a few millimeters long, with no pappus.
