Lagoecia, commonly known as wild cumin, is a genus of flowering plants belonging to the Apiaceae family. This genus contains only a single species: Lagoecia cuminoides L. The species is native to the Mediterranean region, with a range that extends eastward to Iran. The essential oil of Lagoecia cuminoides has a thymol content between 72.83% and 94.76%. This is significantly higher than the thymol content of common thyme (Thymus vulgaris), which averages approximately 47.59%.
