About Lagerstroemia subcostata Koehne
Lagerstroemia subcostata Koehne, commonly known as the Taiwan crepe myrtle, is a deciduous tree. It is native to Japan, the Ryukyu Islands, Taiwan, and southern China, and has been introduced to the Philippines. When the variety L. subcostata var. fauriei is crossed with Lagerstroemia indica, the resulting hybrid is Lagerstroemia × egolfii, which is usually referenced as Lagerstroemia indica × fauriei. This hybrid crape myrtle has many cultivars and is widely planted as an ornamental tree in the United States.
