About Lagenophora pinnatifida Hook.fil.

Lagenophora pinnatifida Hook.fil. produces white flowers. Its involucre and ray florets are slightly smaller than those of the closely related species Lagenophora hirsuta. There are two recognized varieties of this species, and its chromosome count is 2n=18. This species occurs in both the North Island and the South Island of New Zealand. It commonly grows at the margins of water bodies such as lakes and streams, as well as along the margins of beech forests. On the North Island, it grows at elevations up to 1200m, while on the South Island it can grow at elevations up to 1400m. Ecologically, it is associated with mountain beech forests and often grows alongside Halocarpus bidwillii. Populations near Nelson can be found growing in manuka scrub.
