About Lachesis acrochorda (Garcia, 1896)
Lachesis acrochorda has a light brown head and black postocular stripes, which measure between 1 and 2 scales in width. The longest scientifically recorded male individual, found in Ecuador, measures 2.327 meters (7.63 feet), while the longest recorded female from the same region measures 2.342 meters (7.68 feet). This species is distributed across Panama, northern and western Colombia (specifically in the Departments of Chocó, Cauca, and Antioquia), and northwestern Ecuador. Its preferred natural habitats are lowland forest, premontane wet forest, and montane wet forest; it occurs most often in mature forests, at altitudes ranging from sea level up to 1,600 meters (5,200 feet). Lachesis acrochorda reproduces via oviparity, meaning it lays eggs.
