Koenigia phytolaccifolia is a perennial herb that can grow up to 200 cm (79 in) tall. Its leaves are lance-shaped or pointed oval, measure 10 to 20 centimeters long, and grow attached to stems via petioles. This species has large leaf stipules that form a reddish ochrea up to 3 centimeters (1.2 inches) long. Its inflorescence is a long, branched cluster that holds many white or greenish flowers. Each individual flower is roughly 4 millimeters (0.16 inches) wide, with tiny protruding stamens that have yellow or pink anthers at their tips. Koenigia phytolaccifolia is native to the western United States, where it occurs in California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Idaho, and Montana.
