Scientific name: Koenigia alpina (All.) T.M.Schust. & Reveal

Koenigia alpina, which has the synonym Aconogonon alpinum and is commonly called alpine knotweed, is similar to Koenigia alaskana. It differs from Koenigia alaskana in leaf size and achene characteristics. This species is native to Europe and temperate Asia. It is one of the parent species of the cultivated hybrid Koenigia × fennica; the other parent of the hybrid is Koenigia weyrichii.
