About Kalanchoe laetivirens Desc.

Kalanchoe laetivirens is a species within the genus Kalanchoe, belonging to section Bryophyllum. It was once considered a hybrid between Kalanchoe daigremontiana and Kalanchoe laxiflora, which is also known by the synonym Bryophyllum crenatum. Because of this earlier classification, a set of invalid names created for this supposed hybrid are now recognized as synonyms of K. laetivirens. These invalid synonym names include Kalanchoe crenodaigremontiana, Kalanchoe crenato-daigremontiana, Bryophyllum crenodaigremontianum, and Bryophyllum crenato-daigremontianum. The actual true hybrid between K. daigremontiana and K. laxiflora is a distinct plant that is separate from K. laetivirens.

K. laetivirens is often misidentified as one of its once-supposed parent species, K. daigremontiana. K. daigremontiana has bands or spots on the back of its leaves, while the leaves of K. laetivirens are entirely green. This solid green coloration matches the meaning of the species' epithet laetivirens, which translates to "lushly green".
