Juncus tenageia Ehrh. ex L.fil., commonly known as the sand rush, is a flowering plant species that belongs to the genus Juncus. It is native to northwestern Africa, most Mediterranean islands, warmer regions of southern, central, and eastern Europe, and western Asia, which includes Turkey, the Caucasus region, and Kazakhstan. It usually grows in wet, nutrient-poor soils that are composed of rock, sand, or clay. It is most often found growing in clay pits, old brickyards, and along road edges.
