About Juncus prismatocarpus R.Br.

Juncus prismatocarpus, commonly known as the branching rush, is a tufted perennial flowering plant that belongs to the rush family, Juncaceae. It typically grows in moist locations, most often on sandy ground. This plant has grass-like leaves that range from 10 to 40 centimeters in length, and 1.3 to 3.0 millimeters in diameter. Its native distribution covers many areas of Australia, New Zealand, and southeast Asia. The specific epithet of this species comes from Latin, and translates to prism-shaped fruit. Because its flattened unifacial leaves lack adaxial identity, Juncus prismatocarpus has been used in scientific research to study leaf development and leaf faciality.
