About Juncus parryi Engelm.
Juncus parryi Engelm., commonly known as Parry's rush, is a species of rush. It is native to western North America, ranging from British Columbia and Alberta to California and Colorado. In this region, it grows in both moist and dry locations within mountain habitats, including rocky talus and other areas in subalpine and alpine climates. This plant is a rhizomatous perennial herb that forms a dense clump of stems reaching up to around 30 centimeters in height. Short, thready leaves grow around the bases of the stems. Its inflorescence is a cluster of flowers accompanied by a long, cylindrical bract that looks like an extension of the stem. Each flower is made up of a small number of pointed brown segments with membranous edges.
