About Julodis euphratica Laporte & Gory, 1835
Julodis euphratica, commonly called the Sulphrous jewel beetle or Euphratic jewel beetle, is a species of beetle that belongs to the family Buprestidae. Adults of this species grow to a length between 29 and 31 millimeters. Adult Julodis euphratica feed on nectar collected from wild flowers. The larvae of this beetle develop inside acacia trees, where they reside for approximately one year before pupating. Once they finish pupation, adult beetles emerge in early spring to mate. The larval stage of Julodis euphratica lasts around 9 months, and adult individuals live for 3 months. From egg laying through to the death of the mature adult, the total lifespan of this beetle is approximately one year.
