Jovellana punctata Ruiz & Pav. is a semi-evergreen plant. It has red stems and toothed, bright green leaves. Its flowers come in white, light pink, or light lilac. Mature plants can reach up to 1.5 meters in height, and spread up to 0.6 meters wide. This species is reported to have a minty-spicy fragrance. For cultivation, Jovellana punctata can be propagated from stem tip cuttings. It prefers growing in fertile, loamless soil in full direct sunlight, and should receive regular watering. It is reported to grow well alongside Jovellana violacea, which is a closely related species.
