About Jamides elpis
Jamides elpis, commonly known as the glistening cerulean, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Lycaenidae. This species was first described by Jean Baptiste Godart in 1824, and it is native to the Indomalayan realm. The underside of its wings features nearly pure white stripes; in specimens found in the eastern part of its range, these undersurface stripes are very finely darkened, giving them a whitish-grey tone. Larger individuals of this species belong to the rainy season generation, while dry season individuals are primarily distinguished by their smaller size, rather than by differences in colouration or markings. The larvae of Jamides elpis feed on species from the genera Lepisanthes, Boesenbergia and Elettaria.
