Ixodes persulcatus, commonly known as the taiga tick, is a species of hard-bodied tick. Its scientific name is Ixodes persulcatus Schulze, 1930. This tick species has a geographic distribution that extends from Europe, through central and northern Asia, to reach China and Japan. The species displays prominent sexual dimorphism: adult males are significantly smaller than adult females. A wide range of animals act as hosts for Ixodes persulcatus, including wild and domestic ungulates, humans, dogs, rabbits, various other small mammals (such as the dormouse and Amur hedgehog), and occasionally birds.
