About Isotrias rectifasciana (Haworth, 1811)
Isotrias rectifasciana (Haworth, 1811) is a moth species that exhibits sexual dimorphism in adults. Females have a wingspan of 11–14 mm, while males are larger with a wingspan of 14–16 mm and have less distinct forewing markings. The forewings of this species are grey-brown, marked with darker brown transverse markings. It is quite similar to moths of the genus Cnephasia, but Isotrias rectifasciana (commonly called the hedge shade) has straight transverse dark brown markings. This species is distributed in Great Britain, the Benelux countries, France, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Romania, Greece, Turkey, and Russia. These moths inhabit hedgerows, woodland rides and woodland margins where host plants including hawthorn and oak grow, and they can also be found in coastal salt marshes.
