About Isoetes lacustris L.

Isoetes lacustris L., commonly called lake quillwort or Merlin's grass, is a boreal quillwort species native to areas on both sides of the northern Atlantic Ocean. In Europe, its distribution stretches from Poland westward to northeastern France, and covers all of Scandinavia, the western and northern parts of the British Isles, the Faroe Islands, and Iceland. Further south in Europe, isolated populations of this species can be found in the glacial lakes of Bulgaria's Pirin mountain range.
