About Isodontia auripes (Fernald, 1906)

Isodontia auripes, commonly known as the brown-legged grass-carrier, is a species of thread-waisted wasp that belongs to the family Sphecidae. This wasp species opportunistically reuses old nests originally constructed by Xylocopa virginica or mining bees. The larvae of I. auripes feed for three days, then take two additional days to develop into pupae. Across the entire range of I. auripes, crickets of the genus Oecanthus are a common prey item. Isodontia auripes is found along the east coast of the United States.
