The buff-vented bulbul, scientifically named Iole crypta, is a species of songbird that belongs to the bulbul family, Pycnonotidae. This species occurs in south-eastern Myanmar, south-western Thailand, the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, and surrounding nearby islands. Its native natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and it is currently threatened by habitat loss.
