About Ingerophrynus divergens (Peters, 1871)

Ingerophrynus divergens is a toad species belonging to the family Bufonidae. Its known distribution covers the Malay Peninsula (Thailand, and presumably Malaysia), Borneo (Brunei, Indonesia, and Malaysia), Sumatra, and the Natuna Islands. This species lives in well-drained lowland rainforests. It breeds in standing water and slow-moving intermittent streams. I. divergens is widespread across areas with suitable habitat for it, but it is not an abundant species. It faces threats from habitat loss caused by clear-cutting. This toad species has been identified as a potential host for multiple helminths, specifically Seuratascaris numidica and Pseudoacanthocephalus bufonis. These occurrences represent the first recorded instances of these parasitic organisms found in I. divergens.
