This species is endemic to Sulawesi, Indonesia. It is a common and abundant species that occurs in a wide variety of habitats, including primary rainforest, secondary forest, plantations, cultivated land, and towns. Its breeding occurs in ponds, paddy fields, and pools located within slow-moving streams.
