About Illecebrum verticillatum L.

Illecebrum verticillatum L. produces procumbent or decumbent (trailing) stems, which can grow up to 20 cm (7.9 in) high. Its ovate leaves grow arranged in opposite pairs along the stem. Small flowers are clustered in the axils of the leaves, and the petals of these flowers are much smaller than the white sepals. The species is native to most of Europe, ranging from the western Iberian Peninsula to Poland. It is rare in Great Britain, and its northernmost native location is in Denmark. It has also been introduced as a non-native species to at least one site in New Zealand and at least one site in Western Australia.
