About Idia scobialis Grote, 1880

Idia scobialis, commonly known as the smoky idia, is a species of litter moth belonging to the family Erebidae. This species was first formally described by Augustus Radcliffe Grote in 1880. It can be found in North America, ranging from Michigan, southern Quebec, and Maine southward to Florida, and has been recorded as far west as at least Kentucky. The wingspan of this moth is approximately 20 millimeters. It produces one generation each year. Its larvae feed on detritus, which includes dead leaves.
