About Idaea subsaturata (Guenée)
Idaea subsaturata (Guenée) is a moth species that belongs to the Geometridae family. Its range spans multiple regions across Europe and North Africa. In the Iberian Peninsula, it occurs in coastal areas stretching from southern Portugal to the eastern Pyrenees, as well as in northern Spain, with small separate populations located near Madrid and in northern Portugal. Isolated populations of the species are also present in France, specifically in the departments of Vendée, Deux-Sèvres, Lot, Aveyron, Lozère, Gard, Herault, Aude, Pyrénées-Orientales, and Var. In North Africa, it can be found from northeastern Morocco and northern Algeria through Tunisia to western Libya. This moth has a wingspan of 14 to 15 millimeters. It can produce up to three generations per year. In low elevation areas, adult moths are active from May to October, while in mountainous regions they are active from July to August. The larvae of Idaea subsaturata feed on a variety of herbaceous plants, specifically including Taraxacum officinale, Lactuca sativa, and Polygonum aviculare.
