About Idaea inversata (Guenée)

Idaea inversata, commonly called the purple wave, is a moth species belonging to the family Geometridae. Achille Guenée first described this species in 1857. This moth can be found along the east coast of Australia. Externally, Idaea inversata is very similar to the related species Idaea costaria, but it differs by not having the two-coloured head pattern that I. costaria possesses. While I. costaria has a creamy-white patch between its antennae, the entire area between the antennae is dark reddish in I. inversata.
