About Idaea dilutaria (Hübner)
Idaea dilutaria, commonly known as the silky wave, is a moth species belonging to the family Geometridae. This species is found in Europe. Its wingspan measures 20–22 mm. The moth can be recognized by its distinct strongly silky gloss, a complete lack of dedicated costal colouration, where the costal margin only has a sparse dusting of dark scales, along with an unmarked distal margin and fringe. Its ground body colour has a yellowish tint. The discal dots are very small, and no terminal lines are present. All other lines on the wings are generally approximately equally prominent; in some individuals the postmedian line is slightly stronger, while in others the median line of the forewing is weaker. The underside of the wings matches the upperside in appearance. On the underside, the postmedian line is often slightly more prominent, while the antemedian line and sometimes the median line of the forewing are not visible. Males have short, even antennal ciliation. Adult moths produce one generation per year that emerges and flies in July. The larvae of this species feed on Helianthemum nummularium.
