About Ichneumon sarcitorius Linnaeus, 1758

Ichneumon sarcitorius Linnaeus, 1758 displays clear sexual dimorphism in both size and coloration. Males of this species reach a length of 10–15 millimetres (0.39–0.59 in), while females reach 10–13 millimetres (0.39–0.51 in). Males have a typical wasp appearance with a black and yellow banded abdomen. Females have a black abdomen marked with two orange bands and a white tip. This species is distributed across most of Europe, the Near East, the Oriental realm, and North Africa.
