About Iberolacerta bonnali (Lantz, 1927)
Iberolacerta bonnali, commonly known as the Pyrenean rock lizard, reaches a snout-to-vent length of 6 cm (2.4 in), and its tail is roughly twice the length of its snout-to-vent measurement. This lizard has a greyish-brown dorsal colour, which is sometimes finely flecked with dark markings but does not have prominent striping. Its flanks are dark, and may occasionally have faint pale flecking. The underparts of the lizard can be white, greyish, or greenish. The Pyrenean rock lizard occurs in France and Spain, within the Pyrenees Mountains, at altitudes ranging from 1,700 to 3,000 metres (5,600 to 9,800 ft). Its natural habitats are rocky crags and screes located in regions of limestone, slate, and schist. It is often found on rocks near alpine meadows, torrents, and glacial lakes. It is only active for a brief period each year during the summer. I. bonnali is an oviparous species.
