About Hypsopsetta guttulata (Girard, 1856)
Hypsopsetta guttulata, commonly known as the diamond turbot, is a flatfish species in the family Pleuronectidae. It is a demersal fish that lives in subtropical waters on sand or mud bottoms. It occurs at depths up to 50 metres (160 ft), and is most commonly found between 1 and 20 metres (0 and 70 ft). Its native range is the coastal eastern Pacific, extending from Cape Mendocino, California in the north to Baja California, Mexico in the south. This fish is dark green with light blue spots. It can grow up to 46 centimetres (18 in) in length, and the maximum reported lifespan for this species is 9 years.
