About Hypselodoris whitei (A.Adams & Reeve, 1850)

Hypselodoris whitei has a yellow body marked with purple longitudinal lines, and a mantle edged with a purple border. Its gills and rhinophores are bright orange, with white tips. It looks very similar to the related species Hypselodoris maridadilus, but Hypselodoris maridadilus does not have white tips on its rhinophores and gills. This species can grow to a total length of at least 40 millimeters, and it feeds on sponges. This nudibranch was originally described from specimens collected from Caramata Passage, which lies between Sumatra and Borneo. It has been reported across the Tropical Western Pacific, ranging from Australia to Hawaii.
