About Hypselodoris obscura (W.Stimpson, 1855)
Hypselodoris obscura has a mottled appearance, created by a grey or grey-blue base color covered with yellow and black spots that vary greatly in size from individual to individual. A paler stripe runs along its midline. The edge of its mantle is pale blue, marked with alternating yellow sections. Its gills and rhinophores are bright red. This nudibranch species was first described from specimens collected at Port Jackson, Australia. It is a warm temperate species that is only found in southeastern Australia. It is related to Hypselodoris infucata, a widespread tropical species, and Hypselodoris saintvincentius, a similar species native to Australia.
