About Hypolimnas dubius anthedon Doubleday, 1845

Hypolimnas anthedon, commonly known as the variable eggfly or variable diadem, is a butterfly species belonging to the genus Hypolimnas. It is found in southern Africa. There are four known subspecies, and it is a very variable species with many morphs. The wingspan of this butterfly ranges from 75–80 mm for males and 74–90 mm for females. Its flight period occurs year round, with a peak in late summer. Larvae of Hypolimnas anthedon feed on Fleurya species, Urera camerooensis, Urtica, and Berkheya.
