About Hypogymnia imshaugii Krog
Hypogymnia imshaugii, commonly called the forked tube lichen, is a common foliose lichen species belonging to the family Parmeliaceae. Norwegian botanist Hildur Krog formally described it as a new species in 1968. Its thallus ranges in color from grey to gray-green, and has slender lobes that are up to 2 millimetres wide. These lobes branch dichotomously at regular intervals. It produces cup- to disc-shaped apothecia that are constricted at their base. This lichen grows on conifer branches, and prefers moderately dry inland habitats.
