About Hypericum revolutum Vahl
Hypericum revolutum Vahl is an evergreen shrub or small tree in the genus Hypericum that is native to Africa and Arabia. Its leaves are arranged oppositely, closely spaced, and crowded at the ends of branches. They measure approximately 20 × 5 mm, range in color from green to slightly glaucous, are sessile, and clasp the branch at their base. Single bright yellow flowers grow at the ends of branches, reaching up to 5 cm in diameter. This species blooms from June to November. Its fruit is a reddish-brown capsule that can grow up to 13 × 10 mm.
Hypericum revolutum is a characteristic species of Afromontane vegetation. It grows at elevations between 1400 and 2593 meters. Its range extends from southwest Arabia through the Afromontane zones of eastern Africa to the Cape; it also occurs in the Cameroon Highlands and Bioko, as well as on Madagascar, the Comoro Islands, and Réunion. It can be found growing alongside streams in montane grassland and on forest fringes.
