About Hypericum fasciculatum Lam.

Hypericum fasciculatum, commonly called peelbark St. Johnswort or sandweed, is a flowering plant species belonging to the St. Johnswort family, Hypericaceae. It is native to the southeastern United States, where its distribution ranges from eastern North Carolina south to southern Florida, and west to eastern Louisiana. Kew's Plants of the World Online database additionally records that this species occurs in Cuba, though a number of other sources do not include Cuba in its range. The species was first formally described in 1797 by Jean-Baptiste Lamarck. Peelbark St. Johnswort grows in wetland habitats, which include wet pine savannas, marshes, cypress ponds, and roadside ditches. It produces flowers from spring through fall.
